The cat was, physically, cat-sized. But in my mind, she was bigger than a cat. She occupied some larger ghostly space of personality, with her own desires, ambitions, boredoms, irritations and delights. Her facial expressions were human ones. Some cats are opaque to me; their looks are just cat looks. This cat's looks spoke volumes--to me, and possibly only to me.
